We work intensively with our local guides. They know all there is to know about this region. The guides speak English, which makes life a bit easier for most of us.
Enrich your holidayWITH OUR GREAT ACTIVITIES
Bike tour | Time: 3 – 4 hours
The views you get while riding through the highlands are astonishing. You’ll start at the lodge and drive through beautiful landscapes that show you why Madagascar is called the red island. The true mentality of the Betsileo people will let you experience the serenity even more. Ride through villages and come across the countrymen that walk from their villages to Ambalavao for their weekly groceries.
Ambalavao walk | Time: 5 – 6 hours
The flat 20min walk to the foot of the captain is a perfect warm-up lap. The ascent starts when we turn right at a village. You’ll see traditional graves carved in the rocks, still in use today and protected by the skulls of sacrificed zebu. Then the climb toughens. It’s steep, it’s rocky, it’s tough. The summit (1450m altitude) has a 360° view of stunningness, lunchtime! We descend down to Parc d’Anja for some lemur sightings.
Visit Parc d’Anja | Time: 2 hours
Nice, gentle hike in Parc d’Anja. This parc is a local project of the villagers as a result of huge efforts of sensabilisation where nature and wildlife come first. The entrance fee goes directly to the villagers so they can continue their project.
The parc has an interesting variety of vegetation. Lemurs are always curious and will definitely show up to greet us
Andringita mountains | Time: 2 – 3 days
One of the most beautiful parks in Madagascar, the Andringitra massif offers an incredible natural wealth. Despite the difficult access to the park (only 4×4), hike lovers won’t be disappointed as they see the panoramic view that awaits them! The park offers an exceptional wet rain forest and the opportunity to climb the Peak Boby (2,658 m).
Ambalavao walk | Time: 3 – 4 hours
This great, charming walk takes you through rice paddies and you will see the farmers working their crops, the real countryside. As you walk along a riverbed you see many people, they all welcome you on their land. Meet the village kids while you pass by their homes. The walk ends when we enter the lively city Ambalavao. On Wednesday & Thursday we pass by the most famous Zebumarket of Madagascar!

Tsaranoro Valley offers a wide range of stunning trails, from easy, to challenging trails.
Located amongst granite rock formations, the ecotourism project Parc d’Anja is just south of town and well worth a visit. Troops of ring-tailed lemurs, perhaps Madagascar ‘s best known lemurs, can be seen only a short walk away.
